PEO-SPECIAL PROGRAMS
The Program Executive Office for Special Programs (PEOSP) provides special operators with a quick-reaction acquisition and logistics capability for special operations-peculiar efforts directly supporting the global war on terrorism. Projects typically have exceeding short fielding schedules to meet the needs of USSOCOM forces engaged in combat operations as well for operators located in some of the most remote places across the globe. Captain J. Rowland Huss, U.S. Navy, is currently the program execution officer who manages numerous commodities under enhanced security protection. This organization provides support for the full spectrum of commodities, including C4I, mobility and weapon platforms, visual augmentation equipment, individual operator equipment, and counter-proliferation programs. The majority of tasks supported by this group are designed in response to urgent combat requirements in direct support of on-going combat operations. This organization focuses on developing capabilities-based solutions supporting SOCOM operators.
PEO-SP is responsible for executing all acquisition and logistics functions for special operations forces serving directly in combat zones. As USSOCOM has experienced growth, PEO-SP has been an instrumental force provider, ensuring that special operations forces have the advanced technologies and state-of-the-art equipment needed to provide continuous intelligence and information capacities, enabling immediate exploitation and action. PEO-SP is chartered as the lead in developing, testing, fielding and sustaining this and other critical operator-required equipment in the conduct of the full spectrum of GWOT-oriented operations. ♦
